InfoGéol permet d’accéder en tout point du territoire aux informations de la carte géologique de la France au 1/1 000 000 et au 1/50 000 ainsi qu’aux logs géologiques issus de la banque de donnée du sous-sol du BRGM. La version smartphone permet d’afficher les informations lithologiques et stratigraphiques locales ou sur un secteur déterminé. Des définitions sont associées aux principaux termes géologiques (type de roche, lithologie et âge). Le positionnement sur la carte se fait soit manuellement (pan & zoom multitouch), soit à la position courante grâce au GPS, soit par l’utilisation d’un annuaire communal. La version tablette permet en plus de localiser sur une carte les forages ayant des informations géologiques et de les visualiser sous forme de log, les informations lithologiques et stratigraphiques sont alors présentées sur une colonne verticale.
