In the darkroom of a Victorian collector, a brass kaleidoscope is rotated, its six stained glass panes folding into symmetrical patterns through a three-sided mirror to match the target reflected in the bronze mirror. There are no failures, only repeated alignments and locks. Sixteen chambers, ranging from shallow to deep, feature limited-time wicks, limited-use keys, and a gold rim that offers almost no hints; one light per day tests one's skill; the workbench can be freely rotated and used to store drawing boards. When close enough, the eyepiece reveals a fine gold rim; after alignment, the tube is gently locked, and colored light spills onto the wall.
