PunchPad is a material manager for working stand-up comedians. Capture a premise, grow it into a bit, build a setlist, perform it, rate how it landed. Then look at the shape of your own act. CAPTURE The app opens on a text field with the cursor already live. Type the idea, save, leave. No title, no category, no tags asked for. MATERIAL Premise, bit and chunk are three states of one thing. Promote a premise to a bit with one button when it earns it. Nest bits under a chunk. Add tags as you go; they stay flat and lowercase, with autocomplete against what you have used before. SETLISTS Build a setlist from your material and drag to reorder. Running time sits next to your target, so you know whether you are holding eight minutes or twelve. STAGE MODE Big text, a timer, swipe between items, screen stays awake. Built for a dark room and a phone on the stool beside you. POST-SET REVIEW Af…
Every shipping app on the App Store has gone through the same decisions you're working through right now: which screenshot goes first, what caption sits over it, which device frame to show, what color the background should be. The 13 screenshots above are PunchPad's answers to those questions — they're public, they're real, and they made it through Apple's review.
What the numbers say: PunchPad runs a mixed light-and-dark set where the background shifts from screenshot to screenshot (first shot #FCFCFC) — each image has to stand on its own, so the captions carry more of the story. The accent colour we picked up, #FCCC14, is the one to reuse for badges, arrows and highlighted words if you borrow this look. Notice the first screenshot in particular. It's the one users see in search results and on the product page, and it's where most apps spend their best caption and tightest design. Look at the proportion of background to phone, where the text sits, what one thing the image is trying to communicate.
