Trains are epic because they don't get stuck in traffic like cars. However, trains suffer from the "last mile problem." Your destination may be a couple miles away from the nearest station. Or, you may not live near a train station. Modemix fixes this problem. Simply bike to and from the train station. This eliminates bus connections to rail, which are slow and inconvenient.
